Aerospace scientists seek partnership with Cranfield University
SENIOR scientists from India’s foremost aerospace laboratory have visited Cranfield University to explore how the two organisations could work together on a range of high-tech development programmes.

The visit, organised by international business support organisation East of England International, showcased Cranfield’s aerospace technologies.
Dr Ramesh Sundaram and Mr Kotresh Gaddikeri toured the multi-million pound Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre, which works in aeronautical engineering, materials and manufacturing and has particular expertise in aviation business processes and practices.
The IVHM Centre plays a key part in the aerospace business sector with commercial partnerships with BAE Systems, Boeing and Rolls-Royce among others.
Dr Sundaram, of the Indian National Aerospace Laboratories, said: “In a short space of time we saw a lot of what the university does. What we saw and from our discussions, we have generated numerous project ideas for collaborative partnerships between NAL and Cranfield.”
Dr Paul Marshall, responsible for Cranfield’s corporate partnerships business development, said: “We welcome the opportunity to work with India’s National Aerospace Laboratories on a variety of proposed R&D projects and engagement opportunities and we discussed prospects for Cranfield-run training and post-graduate development for NAL.”
Ron Decelis, of EEI, said the visit was significant. “India is rapidly developing its aerospace capabilities and so there are tremendous opportunities for collaborative partnerships with the East of England which has a dynamic aerospace industry and in particular Cranfield University with its established reputation in aviation development.”
